It seems that the Mac has much more to offer in terms of genealogy software than the PC. Heredis is another Mac application to dig into your family history. Although the program could do with a slightly simpler and more attractive interface, we found it simple enough to use. The start page lets you create a new document or search your Mac for any Gedcom or Heredis file.

In itself Heredis offers a few features that other Mac genealogy programs do not have. You can check the coherence of the data you have entered. The application also allows you to create all sorts of personnalized lists and check names of people and places in dictionnaries. Heredis includes specific life events like the Barmitzvah, military service or retirement.

The real disappointment we had with Heredis is in the multimedia support. The process of adding photos or any other media did not feel very intuitive.
